Time to seek solution within constitutional bounds: Dr Shekhar Koirala

MORANG: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has stressed the need to resolve the country’s challenges through constitutional means.

Speaking at a foundation stone-laying ceremony for Budhiganga Park in Budhiganga Rural Municipality-1, Morang, on Thursday, Koirala stated that while everyone has the right to peaceful protest, it must be carried out within the boundaries set by the Constitution.

He strongly condemned violent activities such as vandalism and arson, asserting that such actions are not acceptable and do not help in addressing problems.

Referring to the recent unrest in Tinkune on March 28, he called for the formation of a probe committee to ensure a fair investigation.

Koirala also stressed the need for political reform to strengthen the federal democratic republic. He urged the current government, run jointly by the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, to focus on constitutional amendments, economic growth, good governance, and employment generation.

At the event, Chairperson of Budhiganga Rural Municipality, Jit Narayan Thapamagar, shared that the upcoming Budhiganga Park is envisioned as a tourist attraction. The park will be constructed on four bighas of land along the banks of the Singhiya stream, with an estimated cost of Rs 210 million.
