CIAA seizes procurement files from Madhesh CM’s office

JANAKPUR: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has seized important files related to software and security equipment procurement from the Madhesh Province Chief Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Home Affairs, intensifying its probe into potential irregularities.

According to Rambabu Kurumwang, Chief of the CIAA Bardibas, the commission took possession of these files based on a complaint filed three months ago.

The investigation team had been in regular contact with the Madhesh Chief Minister’s Office for the past five days before securing the documents.

The seized files pertain to software procurement schemes from the fiscal year 2020/21, including the Madhesh Province Government’s Civil PIS System, Office Automation System, and Goods Automation System. T

hese software programs, acquired at a cost exceeding Rs 10 million, remain unused to date. An employee revealed that they had not even been registered in the government store, raising serious concerns over mismanagement and potential financial irregularities.

In addition to software procurement, the CIAA also seized files related to security equipment procurement, further broadening the scope of the investigation. Officials from the anti-graft body stated that further action would be taken if any signs of corruption emerge from the examination of the documents.
