Rabindra Mishra taken to Court in handcuffs

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) senior vice-chair Rabindra Mishra was taken to court on Sunday with his hands cuffed.

Mishra, along with Munindra Rajbhandari, the RTF commander from Durga Prasai’s campaign, and Santosh Rajabadi, was escorted to the Kathmandu District Court via the government attorney’s office for a remand extension.

The leaders were arrested following Friday’s violent protests in Kathmandu’s Tinkune area, which resulted in two deaths.

The police are preparing to charge them with offenses against the state.

Along with Mishra, RPP general secretary Dhawal Shumsher Rana and other leaders, including Swagat Nepal and Pushkar Khatiwada, were also taken to court for remand extension.

Khatiwada, accused of throwing stones at the police during the protests, was arrested from his residence in Imadol on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Durga Prasai, who was also present at the protests, has reportedly gone into hiding.
