KATHMANDU: The fourth session of the federal parliaments- House of Representatives and National Assembly- prorogued on Thursday.
Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, in the third meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday, read out the letter from the Office of President regarding the end of the session.
The current session prorogues being effective from 12 midnight.
The fourth session, also the budget session, had begun from April 29 this year. The session spanned across 144 days among which the federal parliament convened for 65 times in 60 days and consumed 193 hours 40 minutes in the parliamentary works.
Similarly, the joint meeting of both houses of the federal parliament had held twice, totaling 4 hours 5 minutes. A total of 17 government bills were registered in the HoR over this course while seven bills were passed from both houses.
Five bills were left out to be presented in the parliament while four bills are under deliberation in the concerned committees.
The federal parliament recorded 18 bills in total approved over the course.
Speaker Mahara urged the parliamentarians to make the public aware of the bills approved in the current session. He also extended best wishes on the occasion of upcoming festivals to all the Nepalis at home and abroad.
