Five hospitalized after consuming wild mushroom in Jhapa



BHADRAPUR: Five people have fallen ill after consuming poisonous mushroom in Jhapa.

Police said Meena Sarki, 50, of Kamal rural municipality and her two sons — Kumar Sarki, 25, and Ramesh Sarki, 29, who ate mushroom curry became ill.

They had collected the wild mushroom from a nearby jungle, according to police.

Likewise, their neighbors Durga Jimi Rai, 71, and his spouse Mana Kumari Rai, 58, were also taken ill after consuming the mushroom offered by the Sarki family.

They were rushed to the Damak-based Amda Hospital. However, they were later referred to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for further treatment.
