HoR meeting taking place today



KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) is holding a meeting today, with the session scheduled to begin at 11 am. The National Assembly will follow, convening at 1:15 pm, as per the Parliament Secretariat.

The agenda for the HoR includes the tabling of the ‘Banking Offences and Punishment (Second Amendment) Bill, 2080,’ along with a message received from the National Assembly.

Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, the Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, will present the ‘Nepal Legal Practitioners Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081,’ which originated in the National Assembly.

The Parliament Secretariat has also confirmed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will propose a discussion on the ‘Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) (First Amendment) Bill, 2079,’ which also originated in the National Assembly, along with the report from the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.

The HoR will also consider a proposal to pass the ‘Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers and Procedures) (First Amendment) Bill, 2081.’

In the National Assembly, today’s agenda includes a question-and-answer session with ministers from four different ministries.

The ministers will respond to oral questions regarding the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

Additionally, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli may present the annual report of the Muslim Commission for the fiscal year 2080/81 to the House. Kamala Pant, Chair of the Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance Committee, will also present a proposal discussing the need for legal provisions concerning the rights and development of the Dalit community, 2081, according to the Parliament Secretariat.
