KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s National Talent Award 2081 to cardiologist Dr. Om Murti Anil.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented the award to Dr. Murti on Friday at a special ceremony in Kathmandu, recognizing his far-reaching contributions to the medical field.

Dr. Murti has set a new benchmark in health awareness, playing a crucial role in expanding public health services through technology and achieving world records.

In 2023, he set a Guinness World Record for conducting the most-viewed health awareness campaign on Diagnosis of High Blood Pressure via Facebook Live.

The following year, in 2024, he was listed in the World Book of Records (London) for his survey on heart disease prevention, conducted through Radio International.

For over a decade, Dr. Murti has been actively raising public awareness about heart disease and non-communicable diseases through social media.

His research on assessing the risk of heart disease in 5,380 urban youth earned him the National Council of Health Research Award for Best Paper.

With his personal investment, he has organized free health camps across Nepal, providing medical checkups and distributing medicines to over 10,000 citizens. He has also launched a telemedicine service to assist migrant Nepali workers and patients unable to visit hospitals.

Additionally, Dr. Murti has been training healthcare professionals in remote areas, equipping them with specialized knowledge on heart disease and non-communicable diseases.
