Janamat party claims Chairperson Ranjita favors party unification

KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party, led by Dr. CK Raut, has claimed that Ranjita Shrestha, chairperson of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), is in favor of party unification.

On March 15, Dr. Raut and Shrestha met at the Parliament building in Baneshwar to discuss various aspects of party unification.

Following the meeting, Janamat Party spokesperson Sharad Singh Yadav stated that Shrestha supported the unification process.

While discussions had already taken place between Janamat Party Chair Raut and NUP’s patron Resham Chaudhary, there had been no prior talks with Ranjita Shrestha.

However, party leaders now claim that she is also in favor of the merger.

“Ranjita Madam is also positive about it. There has been talk of moving the unification process forward. Our chairperson has also mentioned the same,” Yadav told Khabarhub, adding that NUP’s central committee meeting would finalize the decision.

Shrestha has not commented on the matter yet.

However, her husband and party patron Resham Chaudhary has asserted that the unification process with Janamat Party is already underway.

Meanwhile, NUP is preparing to convene a central committee meeting by March 28 to discuss the issue.

NUP lawmaker Ganga Ram Chaudhary remarked, “Our central committee meeting will make the final decision. We have not yet received full details regarding the unification process.”
