KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Kedar Narsingh KC has accused lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) of attempting to tarnish his reputation by falsely linking his name to public land encroachment.

Speaking at a press conference today, Dr. KC stated that the remarks made by RSP lawmakers Shishir Khanal and Sumana Shrestha during the House of Representatives meeting on March 12 were politically motivated and unfounded.

Dr. KC clarified that the disputed land plots—Lots 61 and 62 in the former Manmaiju VDC Ward No. 9, now part of Tarakeshwor Municipality Ward No. 10, Loktantrik Chowk—are registered in his and his family’s name.

He stated that Lot No. 63 is public land and emphasized that he has no intention of claiming even a single plot of government property. He expressed disappointment that lawmakers would use Parliament as a platform to make baseless accusations, calling it a political assassination of his character.

Announcing his intention to seek legal recourse, Dr. KC condemned the practice of raising speculative and misleading questions in Parliament without any factual basis or evidence.

Tarakeswor Municipality Mayor Krishnahari Maharjan, who was also present at the press conference, criticized the lawmakers for making unsubstantiated claims without consulting local representatives. He argued that such actions could harm individual reputations and mislead the public.

“I want to tell the federal and provincial lawmakers, let’s sit down and measure where public land has been encroached on,” said Mayor Maharjan, expressing his commitment to protecting public land while urging for a more coordinated and responsible approach.

Leaders from various political parties, including Nepali Congress Kathmandu Constituency No. 6 Regional President Shyam Krishna Khadgi, UML leader Lab Basnet, Congress leader Indraman Maharjan, and Tarakeswor Ward No. 10 Ward Chairman Kumar Rai, also condemned the allegations.

They stated that raising unfounded issues in a responsible forum like Parliament undermines its dignity.
