Health Ministry reshuffles senior officials’ responsibilities

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has reshuffled the responsibilities of its senior officials, reassigning key positions among eight senior officers at the 11th level. The decision was made during a ministerial meeting on Tuesday.

As per the new arrangement, Dr. Krishna Prasad Paudel, formerly the head of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, has been appointed head of the Ministry’s Policy Planning Division.

Dr. Chumanlal Das, who previously served as the Medical Superintendent of Koshi Hospital, will take over Dr. Paudel’s previous role. Meanwhile, Dr. Yagya Kharel has been designated as the Acting Medical Superintendent at Koshi Hospital.

In another notable change, Dr. Yubanidhi Basaula, a senior pediatrician at Bharatpur Hospital, has been appointed as the Executive Director of Kanti Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Yaduchandra Ghimire will now serve as the Chief of the National Health Training Center.

Additionally, Dr. Sudha Devkota, who had been transferred to the Central Prison Hospital from the National AIDS and STD Control Center a month and a half ago, has been reinstated to her previous position. The Central Prison Hospital’s new chief will be Dr. Prakash Sah.

Moreover, Dr. Sanjay Thakur, who headed the National AIDS and STD Center, has been reassigned to the National Tuberculosis Center.

The Ministry stated that these changes aim to enhance the effectiveness of healthcare service delivery and management.
