Agreement to increase LPG cylinder price, LPG Industry Association calls off protest

KATHMANDU: The price of LPG cylinders is set to increase after an agreement between the government and gas industry representatives.

The government has agreed to raise the price by Rs 12.75 per cylinder to address the demands of protesting gas business owners.

During discussions between Govinda Bahadur Karki, the secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and representatives of the  Nepal LP Gas Industry Association on Tuesday, both parties reached an agreement, leading to the withdrawal of the protest.

The Nepal Oil Corporation’s board of directors had already decided to adjust external and internal transportation costs, operational expenses, and administrative charges, leading to a price hike per cylinder.

With this decision, the gas shortage in the market caused by the protest is expected to end.
