KATHMANDU: The national men’s football team will play a friendly match against Singapore on March 21 in Singapore as part of their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup third-round qualifiers.
The Singapore Football Association recently announced its match schedule, including friendlies against Nepal and Hong Kong.
However, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has yet to make an official statement regarding the fixture.
Nepal’s last international outing was in November when they played two friendly matches against Tajikistan and Afghanistan in Tajikistan.
In the Asian Cup qualifiers, Nepal is set to face Malaysia on March 25. While the match was initially scheduled to take place at Nepal’s home ground, sources indicate that the fixture is likely to be shifted to Malaysia.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has not approved Dasharath Stadium for hosting international matches, making it improbable that Nepal will be able to play on home soil.
Meanwhile, Singapore will begin its qualifiers on the same day with a home match against Hong Kong.
