Police open fire in Goldhunga to nab gangster Sajan Gurung



KATHMANDU: Police have opened fire in Goldhunga on the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley on Friday afternoon to nab a gangster.

A police team deployed from Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD), Teku opened two rounds of fire to nab Sajan Gurung alias Najok following a faceoff.

He is being taken to Trauma Center at Bir Hospital for treatment, SSP Sahakul Thapa said confirming the incident. Gurung has received bullets in his legs, he said.

According to him, police fired in self-defense as Gurung tried to threaten police with a homemade pistol.

Gurung was in police hit list for extortion. Police had launched a manhunt to nab him following complaints from businessmen of extortion by Gurung.
