Prachanda declares Maoists as the true advocates for Madhesh liberation

KATHMANDU: Chair of the main opposition Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, declared that the Maoists are the only genuine party advocating for the liberation of the Madhesh people.

Speaking during an interaction with local representatives, intellectuals, and civil society leaders in Rajbiraj, Saptari, on Friday, as part of the Maoist’s Tarai-Madhesh Awareness Campaign, Dahal highlighted the Maoists’ commitment to the cause.

He criticized the so-called Madhesh parties, labeling them as fake and pointing out that these groups, which have rallied under the banner of Madheshism, have failed to deliver liberation to the Madhesh people.

He urged the Madhesh community to align with the Maoists, calling it the only genuine force capable of achieving their liberation.

“The time has come for the real Madhesh party to stand with the Maoists,” said Dahal adding that the so-called Madhesh parties were not rooted in the needs of the people but were aligned with reactionary forces.

He reminded the audience that the Maoists had first formed the Madhesh Liberation Front with the belief that the liberation of the country could not be achieved without the liberation of Madhesh.

Dahal reaffirmed the Maoists’ commitment to fulfilling the dreams of the 1,300 Madhesh martyrs who sacrificed their lives for class liberation. He also underscored that federalism and inclusiveness were essential for the Madhesh community, and that the unity between the Maoists and the Madhesh people is both necessary and unavoidable for the community’s future.

The Maoist leader proudly pointed out that, while other provinces’ identity issues have not been fully addressed, the Madhesh province was named based on identity, something that he believes should be celebrated.

Dahal warned that if the Maoists and the Madhesh community did not come together, the progress made thus far could be at risk of being undone. Additionally, he highlighted the Maoists as the first political party to launch a postal route-focused campaign aimed at bringing about significant economic and social change in the region.

As part of his campaign, Dahal reiterated that the Maoists would take full responsibility for the Madhesh people’s aspirations and work tirelessly for their betterment.
