KATHMANDU: A contingent of 211 personnel from the Chandi Prasad Battalion of the Nepali Army (NA) departed for South Sudan last night.
The team, which is assigned to peacekeeping duties in South Sudan under the United Nations’ call, is headed to Juba, the capital of South Sudan. Major Milan Acharya leads the squad.
The Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army confirmed the departure of Major Acharya’s team for the designated mission site.
Previously, a 213-member team from the Aridaman Battalion, led by Major General Maheshwar Silwal, returned to Kathmandu on Saturday after completing their assignment.
Currently, there are 1,756 Nepali Army peacekeepers stationed in South Sudan, including sector commanders, military observers, and staff officers from two battalions and one company.
