Nepal to exit FATF Grey List ahead of schedule: Finance Minister

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has expressed confidence that Nepal will exit the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List ahead of schedule.

Following the announcement of Nepal’s inclusion on the Grey List, Paudel stated, “This situation has arisen due to the failure to complete the scheduled work within the stipulated time in the past. However, Nepal’s Action Plan has been approved by the Paris meeting. By working effectively as per the Action Plan, we will exit the Grey List ahead of schedule.”

Nepal’s inclusion on the Grey List indicates increased monitoring due to deficiencies in countering money laundering and terrorist financing.

The government is now focused on implementing the approved Action Plan to address these concerns and restore the country’s financial credibility.
