KATHMANDU: Former UML leader and coordinator of the Matrubhumi Jagran Abhiyan, Dr Bhim Rawal, has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, accusing him of being irresponsible towards the country and its people.
Taking to social media on Monday, Rawal listed 15 points criticizing Oli’s recent actions, questioning whether they reflect a leader with a sense of duty toward the nation.
He alleged that instead of taking action against individuals facing criminal charges and accusations of immoral activities, Oli has rewarded them with significant positions in both the state and the party.
Rawal further stated that those who have spoken out against the government in the national interest or pointed out inconsistencies in the party’s declared policies and programs have faced disciplinary action.
He accused Oli of silencing dissenting voices while aligning himself with individuals who serve personal or financial interests.
One of Rawal’s strongest allegations was that Oli has actively worked against the public interest by introducing ordinances to benefit land mafias, brokers, and middlemen. He criticized the government for passing such measures through a summary process, preventing meaningful discussion among lawmakers.
Furthermore, Rawal accused Oli of attempting to curtail fundamental freedoms, including the right to write, speak, and assemble, as guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal. He alleged that while the government is quick to suppress opposition voices, it turns a blind eye to activities that threaten national unity, social harmony, and public decency.
The former UML leader also claimed that Oli has been exerting pressure to position his loyalists in leadership roles within the party’s mass organizations, fraternal groups, and various committees. He argued that rather than upholding democratic processes, Oli has undermined the right to elect and be elected by interfering in internal party affairs.
Rawal’s remarks reflect the growing rift within UML and dissatisfaction among senior leaders regarding Oli’s leadership. While his allegations have sparked widespread discussion, Oli and his supporters have yet to respond to the claims.
