KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal has claimed that the ruling coalition is attempting to pass six ordinances issued last mid-December- mid-January by offering inducements.
Speaking at the national assembly of the Socialist Press Organization on Sunday, Nepal criticized the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, accusing them of arrogance.
“There have been attempts to lure members to secure a majority in the National Assembly. Another effort is underway. We support what is right and oppose what is wrong. Some matters cannot be disclosed now,” he said. “Politics involves discussions, but our core principle is clear—we cannot support wrongdoing.”
He accused the Congress-UML alliance of violating the constitution, laws, and regulations. Nepal objected to introducing ordinances while bills were still under discussion in parliamentary committees, arguing that the government should protect the law, not undermine it. He further accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s administration of favoring brokers and capitalists.
“The ruling parties are blinded by arrogance. They believe they can violate the constitution and laws. They have tried to deceive people before,” he said. “But lies do not last long. We all know ordinances cannot be issued while bills are under consideration in parliamentary committees. This government is violating the law.”
Nepal claimed the government deliberately avoided convening a parliamentary session to push ordinances, amending 30 laws without good intent. He urged the media to expose the government’s attempts to exert control.
He credited opposition pressure for compelling the government to call a parliamentary session and vowed to stand united against its misdeeds.
