Dalit activist Sunar arrested while trying to enter Parliament building



KATHMANDU:  Dalit activist Khagendra Sunar, who has been protesting for the past few months, was arrested on Monday afternoon.

He was detained while attempting to enter the Parliament building to demand justice for inter-caste married couple Satyendra Ram and Neha Rouniyar.

According to Kathmandu District Police, Sunar was arrested while trying to enter the Parliament building with a shackle around his neck.

He has been held at the New Baneshwar police station, with authorities stating that he was taken into custody for attempting to breach a restricted area.

Previously, Sunar had also staged protests at Maitighar, chaining his legs and demanding rights for Dalits.
