KATHMANDU: The total expenditure of the Government of Nepal stood at Rs 667.60 billion during the first six months of FY 2024/25.
This figure was reported by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) in its “Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal (Based on Six Months Data Ending Mid-January 2024/25),” citing information from the Ministry of Finance and the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO).
The breakdown of government expenditure during the review period includes Rs 452 billion for recurrent expenditure, Rs 56.94 billion for capital expenditure, and Rs 158.66 billion for financial expenditure.
In terms of revenue mobilization, the Government of Nepal raised a total of Rs 559.61 billion, including the amount to be transferred to provincial and local governments.
This total revenue comprises Rs 489.40 billion in tax revenue and Rs 70.21 billion in non-tax revenue.
As of mid-January 2025, the cash balance across various government accounts held at NRB stood at Rs 297.70 billion, including accounts for provincial and local governments.
This balance was significantly higher compared to Rs 83.99 billion in mid-July 2024.
Provincial Government Expenditure and Revenue
During the review period, the total expenditure of provincial governments amounted to Rs 44.81 billion, while resource mobilization reached Rs 84.91 billion.
The resource mobilization of provincial governments included Rs 67.17 billion in grants and revenue transferred from the Government of Nepal, as well as Rs 17.74 billion in revenue and other receipts generated by the provincial governments.
