KATHMANDU: Nepal suffered a four-wicket defeat against Thailand in the second match of the Tri-nation Women’s T20 International cricket series.
At the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal’s captain Indu Barma won the toss and opted to bat first. The Nepali women’s team managed to score 101 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Kabita Kunwar was Nepal’s top scorer with 25 runs off 32 balls, hitting two boundaries. Bindhu contributed 25 runs off 25 balls with three boundaries, while captain Indu Barma added 15 runs.
For Thailand, Thipatcha Putthawong took three wickets, while Phannita Maya and Nattaya Boochatham claimed two each. Chanida Sutthiruang also secured one wicket.
Chasing a target of 102 runs, Thailand reached the mark in 19 overs, losing six wickets. Nannapat Koncharoenk led Thailand’s innings with an unbeaten 60 off 58 balls, including six boundaries. Suwanan Khiaoto contributed 14 runs, while captain Naruemol Chaiwai scored 13.
On the bowling side for Nepal, Manisha Upadhyaya took two wickets, while Kavita Kunwar, Rubina Chhetri, and Kavita Joshi claimed one each.
Earlier, Nepal lost its first match against the Netherlands by 20 runs. Thailand, on the other hand, secured an eight-wicket victory against the Netherlands in their opening match.
