Will seek legal remedy against Rabi Lamichhane’s suspension: Swarnim Wagle

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Dr. Swarnim Wagle has stated that his party will seek legal remedy against the suspension of party Chair Rabi Lamichhane.

Wagle made this statement during the House of Representatives meeting on Friday.

“In the world, new forces go through stages of being ignored, mocked, attacked, and ultimately accepted. We believe we are currently in the ‘attack’ stage, but we are confident that the next stage—the acceptance of our existence—will come soon,” he said.

“We are fully confident that we will move from the third stage to the fourth.”

He also highlighted the absence of Lamichhane in the house, emphasizing that Lamichhane, who has twice won the parliamentary seat in Chitwan Constituency No. 2 with a margin of 50,000 votes, is not present due to his suspension.

Wagle criticized the suspension, arguing that it was based on Section 27 of the Money Laundering Act, and claimed that the decision ignored the very constitution they had helped create.

“We are seeking legal redress for this decision,” he added.

Wagle further accused the state of using its full power against Lamichhane with malice and bias.

“The entire state apparatus has been mobilized against Lamichhane with vengeance and prejudice. While I should not comment on matters under judicial consideration, I will refrain from speaking further on the issue,” he said.

“Some leaders who were once targeted by the royal commission formed by the king are still active in politics today. This country has witnessed judicial courage, where the court dismissed the royal commission that imprisoned renowned leaders.”
