RSP boycotts Parliament after Speaker resumes session

KATHMANDU: Members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have boycotted Friday’s House of Representatives session.

The boycott occurred after Speaker Devraj Ghimire resumed the meeting amidst ongoing disruptions.

The RSP lawmakers have since left the meeting hall. They stated that they had disrupted the session for 15 minutes before deciding to walk out.

Meanwhile, the first meeting of the winter session of the Federal Parliament commenced on Friday afternoon.

As soon as Speaker Devraj Ghimire read the letter from the President’s Office and moved on to the agenda, lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) stood up in protest.

The RSP protested the government’s decision to register a notice of rejection concerning six ordinances introduced earlier.

Following the protest, Speaker Ghimire urged the RSP lawmakers to sit down, explaining that time had been allotted for all party leaders to speak.
