Rabi Lamichhane’s petition being heard in Pokhara High Court

POKHARA: The hearing of the petition filed by Rabi Lamichhane, Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, is underway at the Pokhara High Court.

The petition, filed to challenge the Kaski District Court’s order and request to release without bail, was presented before a bench headed by High Court Judge Milan Kumar Rai on Tuesday.

The petition follows the January 9 decision by the Kaski District Court Judge Nitij Rai, which set a bail of Rs 6.5 million for Lamichhane’s release in accordance with Section 68 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Lamichhane had paid the bail amount and was released, but dissatisfied with the district court’s decision, he filed a writ petition with the High Court on Monday.

This comes shortly after Lamichhane was released on bail of Rs 10 million by the Rupandehi District Court in the Supreme Cooperative embezzlement case on Sunday.

Following the ongoing hearing in Pokhara, Lamichhane plans to file appeals against the orders of both the Kathmandu and Rupandehi District Courts.
