Hong Kong police fire tear gas to disperse protesters



HONG KONG: Hong Kong police on Sunday fired tear gas to disperse protesters after demonstrators rallied at the U.S. Consulate appealing US President Donald Trump for help in bringing democracy to Hong Kong.

Thousands of protesters during the day sang the Star Spangled Banner while calling Trump to ‘liberate’ the city. They also waved the Stars and Stripes demanding democracy.

Hong Kong police dispersed the protestors after cat-and-mouse clashes.

Demonstrators also smashed windows and vandalized the MTR metro station.

Protesters set fires from the cardboard boxes.

The said: “Fight for freedom, stand with Hong Kong,”, as they chanted slogans handing over petitions at the U.S. Consulate. (Agencies)
