KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has granted permission to review its earlier decision to lift the suspension of Nepali Congress MP Tek Bahadur Gurung, who faces corruption allegations.
The suspension of MP Gurung was lifted by a joint bench of the Supreme Court on April 24, 2024 last year. However, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) expressed disagreement with the ruling and filed a petition seeking a review.
On Thursday, a joint bench comprising Justices Sapana Malla Pradhan, Bal Krishna Dhakal, and Nripadhwaj Niraula approved the CIAA’s request for a review.
This decision opens the door for reconsideration of the earlier ruling, which had temporarily reinstated MP Gurung despite the ongoing corruption charges.
