Two arrested for character assassination on social media



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two people on the charge of character assassination through the misuse of social networking site.

Those arrested are Shree Krishna Karki, 19, of Dhule Besighar, Khandadevi Rural Municipality-8, Ramechhap, currently living in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13, and Saroj Katwal, 31, of Shadananda Municipality-5, Bhojpur, temporarily residing in Bouddha Naya Basti, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6.

Both have been charged of sending photos and videos taken during their love affair to the victim’s relatives and friends on Facebook Messenger after the relationship broke down.

Police have obtained permission from the Kathmandu District Court to take them into custody for necessary investigation under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
