Nepal Police Club win Jay Trophy with 28-run victory over Tribhuvan Army Club

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club (NPC) beat Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) by 28-run to win the Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup in a closely contested match at the Narayani Cricket Ground in Birgunj.

Chasing a modest target of 103 runs set by NPC in the second innings, Army faltered and was bowled out for 74 runs.

Despite a valiant effort, TAC’s top scorer Imran Sheikh contributed 28 runs, while captain Binod Bhandari and Sompal Kami managed 11 runs each.

NPC’s bowling attack, led by Sagar Dhakal and Lalit Naran Rajbanshi, proved to be the game-changer, with Dhakal taking six wickets and Rajbanshi claiming four.

Earlier, NPC, resuming their third-day innings at 132-9, could only add seven runs to their tally before being bowled out for 139.

The innings featured notable contributions from Kushal Bhurtel (45), Dilip Nath (34), Rashid Khan (18), and Amit Shrestha (13).

TAC bowlers Shahab Alam and Bashir Ahmed delivered impressive spells, taking five wickets each.

Despite their efforts, TAC fell short of the target, handing the NPC a well-deserved victory.
