Wildlife photographer Chungba Sherpa passes away at 64



KATHMANDU: Wildlife photographer Chungba Sherpa, 64, passed away last night at Grande Hospital while undergoing treatment.

Sherpa, a resident of Lukla, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-1 in Solukhumbu, had been battling liver problems for the past week and was on ventilator support during his treatment.

His demise was confirmed by Phunuru Sherpa, Ward Chair of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-1.

Sherpa is survived by his two sons and three daughters.

A long-time member of the Nepali Congress, Sherpa was actively involved in politics and served as the president of the Nepali Congress in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality. Additionally, he was a prominent figure in the tourism sector and a former chairman of the Chaurikharka VDC.

In recent years, Sherpa had dedicated himself to wildlife photography, contributing significantly to the field. He was affiliated with several national and international organizations that promote photography and conservation.
