School-going girl attacked with acid in Birgunj



BIRGUNJ: A 15-year-old school-going girl was attacked with acid in Parsa on Friday morning.

The victim, Muskan Khatun, was attacked with acid at around 6:15 am near Ganeshman Chowk when she was on the way to her school, Tribhuvan Madhyamik School.

Preliminary investigation said she was attacked after she rejected a love proposal from one of the three attackers, police said adding that the two others are still at large.

Police meanwhile have arrested one of the three teenagers involved in the attack. The attackers have been identified as Sajid Miyan Hajam, Shamshad Aalam and Raiful Miyan. They are the residents of Chhapkaiya, Birgunj.

Critically injured Khatun, a ninth-grader, was rushed to a local hospital from where she has been referred to Kathmandu, police said.

She has suffered burns on her right cheek, hands, and chest.

An investigation into the incident is underway. Police have initiated a search for the other two teenagers involved in the attack.
