KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has stated that the “Divyopadesh” (precepts) of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the leader of Nepal’s unification campaign, serve as important guidelines for nation-building, economic development, patriotism, and diplomatic relations with neighboring countries.

In a message issued on National Unity Day, the President highlighted the significance of remembering the contributions made by Nepal’s forefathers, who united smaller principalities to form the modern nation.

President Paudel highlighted that Prithvi Narayan Shah’s unification efforts laid the foundation for the sovereign and independent Nepal we know today, a campaign continued by brave ancestors through various historical periods.

He further noted that Nepal has since been declared an independent, indivisible, sovereign, secular, inclusive, democratic, and socialism-oriented Federal Democratic Republic.

On the occasion of the 303rd birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the President called for recalling his ‘Divyopadesh’ and stressed the importance of national unity, territorial integrity, and the nation’s independence and sovereignty.

He concluded his message by hoping the occasion would inspire efforts to achieve the happiness and prosperity of the people.
