KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane has been released from Kaski police custody after 84 days.

Following the Kaski District Court’s order to release him on Rs 6.5 million bail, Lamichhane was freed after submitting the bail amount through a bank guarantee.

All accused, including Lamichhane, will now undergo medical examinations at Fishtail Hospital in Pokhara after completing the court formalities.

“Currently, the Chair and all other accused are at the Kaski District Court. In about an hour, they will be taken to Fishtail Hospital for medical checkups,” said RSP spokesperson Manish Jha. “The court processes are ongoing, and the health checkups are scheduled for today,” he added.

Sources revealed that Lamichhane’s release was conditional on his agreement to appear in person for cases registered in other district courts.

Judge Nitij Rai of the Kaski District Court had ordered the release of all seven accused, including Lamichhane, on bail after a week-long detention hearing.
