Oli government increases public transport fares

Freight vehicle fares also increased



KATHMANDU: The government led by KP Sharma Oli has increased the fares for public transportation across the country. Additionally, the government has raised the fares for freight vehicles as well.

The fare for passenger vehicles has been increased by 3.30%, while the fare for freight vehicles operating on hilly routes has been raised by 0.83%. The fare for freight vehicles on Terai routes has increased by 0.05%.

The Department of Transport Management stated that the fare adjustment has been based on the fuel share of 35% and other factors contributing to 65%, leading to the fare hike accordingly.

The new fare rates will be effective starting from Monday, Poush 22 (January 6, 2025).
