Maoist leaders suggest Prachanda and all party members engage in productive labor

KATHMANDU: Central Committee members of the main opposition, the CPN (Maoist Centre), have stressed the need to unify the party and move forward.

During the second day of the Central Committee meeting held in Kathmandu on Sunday, members highlighted that stepping away from the government has provided a historic opportunity to reconnect with the people.

According to party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota, members emphasized the importance of utilizing this time outside the government to strengthen party unity and move ahead collectively.

On Monday, the members further urged setting a clear schedule, including the date for the party’s General Convention.

They noted that Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s political report is both scientific and pragmatic, calling for progress with a clear political vision.

Central Committee members also suggested that Chairman Prachanda, along with all party leaders, must mandatorily engage in labor and contribute to production.

“Only by involving leaders in labor can the party firmly connect with the public,” spokesperson Sapkota said.

Moreover, members proposed enforcing mandatory labor rules at all levels of the party, from top to bottom.

They also suggested that pressure should be exerted on other parties to convene the Federal Parliament’s winter session promptly.

Out of the 180 members registered to speak, 80 presented their views on the second day of the meeting. The session has been adjourned until Tuesday at 11 a.m., Sapkota confirmed.
