Royalist slogans welcome Bhim Rawal in Biratnagar amid campaign launch
Bhim Rawal, ousted leader of the UML, was welcomed in Biratnagar with the royalist slogan “Jai Desh Jai Naresh,” typically associated with calls for the restoration of the monarchy.
The event occurred as Rawal arrived in the east for his “Matribhumi Jagran Abhiyan” (Motherland Awareness Campaign).
Royalists gathered at Biratnagar airport with national flags to greet Rawal, though police barred them from bringing flags into the premises.
Government committed to developing Solukhumbu as a tourism hub: PM Oli
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing Solukhumbu, a key tourist destination contributing significantly to Nepal’s tourism sector.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Nim Dorjee Sherpa Tourism Road in Surke, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-2, PM Oli highlighted plans to strengthen infrastructure in the region.
He emphasized collaboration between the provincial and federal governments for upgrading the tourism road.
Petroleum discovered in Dailekh as govt prepares extraction plan
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced the discovery of petroleum products in Bhairavi Rural Municipality, Dailekh.
Through a Facebook post, the Prime Minister shared that a sample was extracted from a depth of 402 meters in Jaljalemakul, located in Ward 1 of the rural municipality.
The extracted sample will now undergo laboratory testing before moving toward commercial extraction.
Govt’s deficit budget continues to push citizens into debt trap
The government’s repeated introduction of deficit budgets without adequate resource planning has left Nepali citizens grappling with an escalating debt burden.
This trend, deep-rooted since Nepal’s first annual budget in 1951, is raising serious concerns about fiscal responsibility and its implications for the nation’s economy.
Nepal’s government has consistently introduced budgets exceeding its financial capacity, relying heavily on borrowing to fill the gap.
Government targets asset laundering in crypto, casinos, and more
The government has identified six offenses related to money laundering and assigned three regulatory bodies for their oversight, as per a notice published in the Nepal Gazette this week.
The decision, based on the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2064, was made by the Cabinet in December 20, though the formal announcement came 13 days later.
The government, under Clause 7(A)(2) of the Act and following recommendations from the coordination committee, has designated Nepal Rastra Bank, the Department of Transport Management, and the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) as regulatory bodies.
