RPP Nepal to hold General Convention from November 29

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Nepal has announced its general convention will take place from November 29 to December 1 in Kathmandu.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by party leader Kamal Thapa on January 3 and 4.

The meeting finalized the convention date while approving various reports, including the political paper, organizational department report, Terai-Madhes upliftment campaign work plan, financial report, and secretariat report, with amendments, according to General Secretary Rajaram Bartaula.

The party also decided to build a strong nationalist democratic force by uniting with like-minded groups and embracing Prithvi Narayan Shah’s guidance as the foundation of its “Prithvi Path” policy.

The meeting called for reforms in the formation of constitutional and judicial councils to eliminate political appointments and party-based quotas.

It also demanded the establishment of a powerful constitutional body based on the “Jan Lokpal” concept to combat corruption.

Additionally, the party criticized the recently issued ordinance on cooperative operations as incomplete, urging the government to nationalize troubled cooperatives and ensure depositors’ refunds.

It also pressed for immediate control of loan sharking, justice for victims, regulation of high-interest rates by banks and microfinance institutions, and recognition of Janaki Temple as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with integrated development of Janakpur as a cultural city.
