Young woman found dead in Kathmandu hotel

KATHMANDU: A young woman was found dead in a room at Bagmati Hotel in Gaushala, Kathmandu, on Wednesday, raising suspicions of murder.

The deceased has been identified as Sushmita Khadka from Kageshwori Manohara Municipality. She had checked into room number 308 of the hotel on December 31 with a man who has since gone missing.

According to an officer from the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, the man left the hotel on December 31, stating he would return shortly, but failed to come back.

Suspicious of the situation, the hotel owner alerted the police.

Upon entering the room, police and public representatives found Khadka lifeless on the bed.

The absconding man has been identified, and authorities have located his probable whereabouts.

A complaint has been filed by the victim’s family at Gaushala Police Station, and her body has been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
