KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament has unanimously endorsed Purna Bahadur Nepali as Nepal’s ambassador to Sri Lanka.

In a meeting held at Singha Durbar on Sunday, the committee conducted a hearing for Nepali, who was recommended by the Cabinet on Mangsir 6.

Committee Chair Ishwari Devi Neupane confirmed the unanimous approval and acknowledged the government’s positive response to her earlier call for inclusive ambassadorial appointments.

She expressed hope that future recommendations would continue to reflect the spirit of the constitution’s inclusivity.

During the hearing, Nepali emphasized his commitment to advancing economic diplomacy with Sri Lanka and promoting Nepal’s economic development. He also highlighted plans to boost religious tourism between the two nations.

Following the committee’s approval, the ambassadorial appointment will be formalized by the President as per constitutional provisions.
