KATHMANDU: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, announced the launch of a ward-level search campaign aimed at eradicating tuberculosis (TB) across the province.

Speaking at the inauguration of a chest disease detection program through digital X-rays in Serabang, Dhorpatan Municipality-8, Pandey highlighted the importance of early detection for effective treatment.

“If tuberculosis is detected in its early stages, it can be fully cured,” said Pandey.

He explained that health workers are being dispatched to the ward level to conduct digital X-rays and identify cases of TB.

Highlighting the importance of preventive care, the Chief Minister stressed that regular health checkups are crucial to break the habit of only visiting hospitals when ill.

Pandey further reiterated that improving health services in remote areas is a top priority for the provincial government.

Provincial Health Minister Krishna Prasad Pathak said Gandaki Province has also launched an awareness campaign to discourage the practice of giving birth at home, urging expectant mothers to seek proper medical facilities.

Additionally, Pandey announced the establishment of a 50-bed hospital in Burtibang to serve patients from remote regions, a project developed in coordination with the Gandaki Province Tuberculosis Treatment Center, the Health Office Baglung, and Dhorpatan Municipality.
