KATHMANDU: Following the arrest of Rabi Lamichhane on October 18 in connection with a cooperative fraud case, leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) reportedly approached Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah for help.

RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti admitted during a press briefing on Friday that he had met with Mayor Shah, stating the discussions were part of broader efforts to unite transformative forces for national development.

“We are holding dialogues and discussions with those who support change. This is part of a regular process to build consensus and raise public awareness,” Burlakoti said.

Burlakoti also criticized the government’s actions against Lamichhane, describing them as retaliatory. He expressed confidence in the judicial process and pledged the party’s support for legal proceedings.
