KATHMANDU: In a bid to strengthen the country’s healthcare system, the Ministry of Health and Population is hosting the Nepal Health Conclave in the capital on December 26-27.
According to the Ministry, the two-day event is organized to enhance Nepal’s health system by mobilizing the knowledge, skills, and resources of Nepali Diaspora health professionals, alongside local healthcare and public health workers.
“The Nepal Health Conclave 2024 aims to bridge the gap between global expertise and national needs by fostering collaboration between Nepali Diaspora health professionals and national stakeholders,” the Ministry stated.
A total of 1,000 participants have registered from 90 countries to attend the conclave, which will be held in Kathmandu under the slogan ‘Connecting Diaspora for Healthcare Strengthening’.
Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, spokesperson for the Ministry, shared that 300 registered participants will attend in person, while 700 will join virtually.
The Ministry believes that the conference will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and technology between the Nepalese medical Diaspora and local healthcare providers.
Dr. Budhathoki further emphasized that the event aims to promote partnerships in research, innovation, and training, while formulating healthcare policies and strategies for long-term engagement.
Key themes of the conference include global best practices in Diaspora engagement, e-health, advanced healthcare, policy dialogue, and long-term engagement in research, education, and innovation.
Additionally, the conference is expected to help prepare the Nepal Medical Diaspora Engagement Framework. Dr. Budhathoki remarked, “The outcome of the conference is anticipated to support the development of strategies for long-term collaboration between local and international doctors, health workers, and public health professionals, while providing actionable policy recommendations to strengthen the healthcare system.”
