KATHMANDU: Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has said that the Ministry is taking initiatives for preparing the environment for providing potable water drawn from Melamchi to the Kathmandu denizens throughout the year.
In a discussion held with the Ministry officials and employees today, he called for carrying out works so that water from Melamchi can be supplied in the Kathmandu Valley round-the-clock.
“Carry out works in such manner that the citizens get to experience the results. The Ministry will do the required coordination and provide the necessary support. The incomplete works should be completed in a speedy manner and the Kathmandu folks should get potable water throughout the year,” the Water Supply Minister said.
He also directed the Ministry officials to take the necessary initiative for the implementation of the agreement reached between the Ministry and the struggle committee as well as the locals of Helambu in Sindhupalchok in connection with bringing the water from Melamchi to Kathmandu.
Stating that it was the Ministry’s first priority to distribute potable water to the people, Minister Yadav said the Ministry was working in a planned manner for this purpose.
