Two arrested for assaulting Janakpur Bolts fans after NPL final



KATHMANDU: Two youths have been arrested on charges of misconduct and assault following the Nepal Premier League (NPL) final on Saturday.

The incident occurred after the final game between Janakpur Royals and Sudurpashchim Royals at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

The arrested individuals have been identified as 21-year-old Ashok Saud and 19-year-old Ganesh Saud from Doti, currently residing in Kirtipur.

Both were supporters of Sudurpashchim Royals, the losing team in the final.

According to reports, the two youths used offensive language, attempted to disrupt communal harmony, and engaged in disrespectful behavior toward various individuals after Janakpur defeated Sudurpashchim to win the inaugural season of NPL.

Based on complaints and additional information gathered from various sources, the youths were arrested on Sunday at 7:00 pm.

They were taken into custody at the Kirtipur Police Station.

Authorities are continuing their search for other individuals involved in the incident, as per the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police’s statement.
