5 parliamentary committees to meet on legislative and policy matters  today



KATHMANDU: Five committees under the Federal Parliament are meeting today at Singha Durbar to address significant national matters.

The Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance Committee will convene at 11:00 am to discuss the management of betel nut exports produced in Nepal, focusing on improving trade practices and addressing challenges faced by local farmers.

Similarly, the Federalism Enablement and National Concerns Committee is set to meet at 11:30 am. This session will deliberate on issues related to forest areas and national parks, particularly in the context of implementing national pride projects that balance development with conservation.

At noon, the Women and Social Affairs Committee will review the implementation of its directives on suicide prevention. The meeting aims to assess progress and strengthen measures for addressing mental health concerns across the country.

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will gather at 1:00 pm to discuss amendments to the bill governing the formation, operation, and service conditions of the federal civil service. The proposed changes are expected to refine and improve governance mechanisms within the civil service framework.

Also meeting at 1:00 pm is the Legislative Management Committee, which will consult with stakeholders on the Nepal Legal Practitioners Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024. This discussion will focus on improving the regulatory framework for legal practitioners in Nepal.
