Damage assessment begins after Bajura earthquake

KATHMANDU: A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Bajura this morning at 4:14 am, with its epicenter located in Gotri, Jagannath Rural Municipality.

Acting Chief District Officer Rupak Mandal reported that there were no casualties, but several houses in the area were damaged.

Due to the remote mountainous location of the district, travel to the affected areas is difficult, and the damage assessment is still underway. Initial reports from the police confirmed no human loss.

Mandal added that a house collapsed in Budhinanda Municipality-4, where three children were inside at the time. The children were rescued safely.

The District Administration Office in Bajura is coordinating with local representatives, residents, and police to collect further details on the damage.
