KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel conducted an on-site inspection of the Singha Durbar Baidhyakhana to assess the status of Ayurvedic medicine production.

The visit comes amid concerns over stagnant production levels despite efforts to revitalize the institution.

During the inspection, Paudel, accompanied by senior ministry officials, addressed employee grievances regarding low production and resource shortages.

Paudel clarified that while the government can support capital development, it cannot fund salaries and gratuities.

He encouraged the submission of a plan within three days to address production challenges, assuring that budget constraints would not hinder efforts to increase output.

The Minister also said the government will blacklist contractors failing to supply adequate raw materials and exploring new alternatives to ensure continuous production.

He said that even the Prime Minister is keen on seeing improvements at Baidhyakhana, stressing the institution’s potential to meet market demand for Ayurvedic medicines.
