Lumbini Lions end losing streak with 33-run victory over Chitwan Rhinos



KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions, led by Rohit Poudel, secured their first win in the Nepal Premier League with a 33-run victory over Chitwan Rhinos.

After suffering four consecutive losses, Lumbini finally found success, defeating Chitwan by 33 runs.

The Lumbini Lions had previously lost to Biratnagar, Pokhara Avengers, Sudurpaschim, and Janakpur Bolts.

Batting first, Lumbini set a target of 168 runs, finishing with 167/6 in 20 overs.

Captain Rohit Poudel played a pivotal role, scoring a match-high 80 runs to guide his team to a competitive total.

Chasing 168, Chitwan was restricted to 134/8 in their 20 overs. Luke Benkenston was the top scorer for Chitwan with 31 runs, but he was dismissed by Abhishek Gautam in the 11th over.

Chitwan’s captain, Kushal Malla, contributed 20 runs off 17 balls, including one four and one six. Ravi Bopara was dismissed by Rohit Poudel for 12 runs off 16 balls.

Lumbini’s victory came on the back of strong all-round performances, particularly from captain Rohit, who also made key contributions with the ball.

The match, played at the Kirtipur Cricket Ground at Tribhuvan University (TU), gave Lumbini a much-needed boost as they look to build on this victory.
