KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has emphasized on joint efforts to control dengue that has currently spread to more than 45 districts in Nepal.

A total of 3,834 persons were infected with the dengue in the last fiscal year. However, in one and half month of this year, around 1,537 persons have been detected with dengue.

Minister of State for Health and Population, Dr Surendra Yadav said efforts from the ministry are insufficient to control dengue spread while urging cooperation from all sectors to prevent the disease.

He was speaking at the meeting of Education and Health Committee under the House of Representatives today.

Yadav warned that failure to garner support and cooperation from all sectors would lead to an alarming situation.

He said that the Ministry alone will not be able to stop the mobility of mosquitoes from southern plains to hills and to the mountains.

The state minister also said lack of necessary budget and human resources has been serious constraints to execute the works.
