Narayan Kaji demands end to vindictive treatment of Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Senior Vice Chairman of the Maoist Center, has called for the government to immediately cease its humiliating and vindictive treatment of detained Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman, Rabi Lamichhane.

He accused the government of engaging in discriminatory actions without any investigation in cases involving leaders from the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.

In a Facebook post, Shrestha expressed his deep concern: “I am deeply saddened to hear about the humiliating and vindictive treatment of Lamichhane during his transfer from Chitwan to Pokhara, especially as I am currently abroad.”

“If these reports are true, I strongly oppose and condemn such actions. I demand that the government immediately stop this illegal, anti-human rights behavior,” Shrestha said.

Shrestha also criticized the government’s failure to investigate leaders from the Nepali Congress and UML, while focusing solely on Lamichhane.

He stated, “It is clear that the government is engaged in blatant discrimination by protecting the leaders of the Nepali Congress and UML, while targeting Lamichhane without any proper investigation,” Shrestha said in his social media post.

“Our party has consistently raised this issue, and we strongly oppose these discriminatory actions. We are demanding an immediate investigation into the actions of these other leaders as well,” he added.
