Rabi Lamichhane to be produced in Kaski Court today

POKHARA: Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who is facing charges related to cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering, will be produced in the Kaski District Court today.

Currently in the custody of the Kaski District Police Office, Lamichhane is being brought to court for the extension of his remand period, as the previous extension expired.

The Kaski District Court had extended Lamichhane’s remand for the fifth time, granting an additional 15 days.

Although this period expired on December 6, the expiration fell on a Saturday. As the court opens today, his remand period is being extended for the sixth time.

The extension is necessary as investigations into the cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering cases are still ongoing.

Lamichhane, the former managing director of Galaxy Television, was arrested by the police in Kathmandu.

He was taken to Pokhara, where he faces charges of illegally transferring funds deposited by savers at the Surya Darshan Savings and Loan Cooperative Society to Gorkha Media Pvt. Ltd.

Additionally, Lamichhane is involved in three separate cooperative fraud cases in Butwal, Chitwan, and Kathmandu, where his statements have been recorded.
